Leading-Lights Gallery

St Nick

This gallery shows a selection of Leading-Lights’ work and a range of applications. Except in the case of exclusive models these designs can be reproduced to your order

What are the advantages of buying a gallery design?

  • You can get a clear idea of the finished work in advance
  • The cost is lower than for a comparable commissioned work because you pay no design charges
  • The price is fixed

Is it really unique?

Even gallery items are not normally carried in stock. Each one is made to order. It is cut piece by piece. The pieces are painted and fired usually two or three times and then set in lead cames. The piece is then soldered and cemented to make it weatherproof. The glass and leads are given a patina. The whole work is hand-made specially for you from start to finish. No two pieces will be the same.If you prefer, we can personalise a gallery item, making a small change in colour, design or inscription to your specifications. The changes will entail an additional charge, but the end result can be highly personalised while delivery time is likely to be shorter and the cost lower than for a comparable fully commissioned work.

How long does it take?

Are you prepared to wait for something unique? Making a stained glass panel is highly labour intensive and the time taken to execute a work depends on the degree of detail and painting, the number of pieces of glass in the design and similar considerations. In general the price of a work will be closely related to the time it takes to make. Other factors such as workload and availability of supplies will also play a part so if you have a deadline tell us and we will let you know if we can meet it or not before you go ahead with your order. If you have no deadline we are still happy to give our best estimate for delivery date and incorporate this into our contract.
