The transport enthusiast who commissioned this work wanted to be reminded of landmarks in his life while taking his morning shower. The window traces the story from christening on an aircraft carrier through childhood in Ceylon and Gibraltar to education in Portsmouth and Oxford. A career in engineering and property interests in Roumania are alluded to elsewhere in these highly worked lights.

The specification for this commission entitled “ Floating in Space” included an iconography that had a special spiritual and astrological significance for the client.

This recent panel entitled Spirit of Place which evokes spiritualist writer, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s presence amidst the architecture of his former haunts in Portsmouth is now on permanent loan to the City Museum’s splendid Conan Doyle Collection.
